Except for public works projects of one thousand dollars ($1,000) or less, not less than the general prevailing rate of per diem wages for work of a similar character in the locality in which the public work is performed, and not less than the general prevailing rate of per diem wages for holiday and overtime work fixed as provided in this chapter, shall be paid to all workers employed on public works (Labor Code 1771).
All contractors and subcontractors shall be properly registered with the DIR at time bid opening to bid any work on this contract. Bidders will be considered non-responsive if they are not registered. No bid can be accepted nor any contract or subcontract can be entered into nor purchase order issued if the contractor or subcontractor has not registered with the DIR (Labor Code 1771.1). DLSE will monitor and enforce prevailing wage requirements, and contractors and subcontractors are required to furnish Certified Payroll Records (CPR’s) directly to the Labor Commissioner (Labor Code 1771.4)
